Word: why
It seems as if there's almost a need to have and to do things in excess in our society, but we tend to forget (or choose to forget) that needs stem from whys. If we'd asked ourselves the whys, we won't be in excess. En fait, I doubt we'll all be in such a fix as we are today.
Sometimes I ask questions like, Why are some people so engrossed in keeping up with other people's lives?, Why these people's moods can be so drastically changed by something which happened to their person of adoration (and thus totally out of their control)?. But then those are questions of excess, and once again I'd forgotten to ask the why.
Really, I should be asking questions like Is God ever going to be pleased with me? (which is redundant on the whole, as I suspect the answer's a big, fat NO) or When is that call ever going to come?. These questions, I have the answers to why I asked them.
PS Are dreams meant to be remembered, and questioned? Sigh.
